Indications

- Basic Treatment of the polyarthritis rhumatoïde.
- Treatment of the cystinic lithiasis.

Against indications

- Nephropathies.
- Important hematologic Deteriorations, in particular leucopenias and/or thrombopénies.
- Érythémateux Lupus.
- Myasthénie.
- Severe Dermatoses.
- Antecedents of serious accidents (medullary aplasia, pemphigus, myasthénie) to derived thiols (D-pénicillamine and pyritinol).
- Expectant mother or likely to be it: contra-indicated in the expectant mother or likely to become it because of the absence of information on the reproduction in the course of treatment; or which nurses.

Undesirable effects

- Cutanéomuqueux: eruption, lichen, alopécie, gingivite, prurit, lesion aphtoïde. Very rare cases of toxidermy and pemphigus were reported requiring the stop of the treatment.
- Agueusie: in general do not require the stop of the treatment.
- Gastro-intestinal: nauseas, diarrhea.
- Renal: protéinurie (requiring a stop of the treatment especially from 1 g/24 H).
- Pulmonary Demonstrations: cases of interstitial pneumopathy and bronchiolite obliterating were seldom reported. They are similar to the pulmonary complications of the polyarthritis rhumatoïde and can regress the stop of the drug.
- Hematologic: they are rare but require the regular monitoring of numeration/blood picture (see warning statements and precautions for use).
. Thrombopénie: generally moderate and likely to regress with the reduction of posology (under brought closer monitoring); sometimes major or persistent requiring the stop of the treatment.
. Leucopenia, agranulocytose imposing the stop of the treatment.
- Hepatic: increases in transaminases or cases of hepatitises were announced.
- Dysimmunitaires: myasthénie, polymyosite, pemphigus (requiring the stop of the treatment).
The tiopronine like all the substances comprising of the groupings thiols whose D-pénicillamine and pyritinol, can involve induced lupus and increases in the antinuclear factors.
- Any other business: episodes of fever or faintness general occurring after the catch of the tablets.
