Indications

- Arterial Hypertension.
- Disease prevention of the crises of angor of effort.
- Treatment the long course after myocardial infarction (the acébutolol decreases the risk of repetition of myocardial infarction and mortality, particularly sudden death).
- Treatment of some turbid of the rate/rhythm: supraventriculaires (auricular tachycardias, flutters and fibrillations, jonctionnelles tachycardias) or ventricular (ventricular extrasystolie ventricular, tachycardias).

Against indications

CONTRA-INDICATE:
This drug SHOULD NEVER be used in the following cases:
- over-sensitiveness with the acébutolol,
- asthma and obstructive chronic broncho-pneumonopathies, in their severe forms,
- cardiac failure not controlled by the treatment,
- shock cardiogenic,
- blocks auriculoventriculaires of the second and third degrees not installed,
- angor of Prinzmetal (in the pure forms and in monothérapie),
- disease of the sine (including sino-auricular block),
- bradycardia (< 45-50 beats per minute),
- phenomenon of Raynaud and arterial disorders peripheral, in their severe forms,
- phéochromocytome untreated,
- hypotension,
- antecedent of anaphylactic reaction,
- breast feeding: in the event of treatment by the acébutolol, breast feeding is contra-indicated because of an important passage in milk,
- association with the floctafénine, the sultopride (see interactions),
Because of the presence of lactose, this drug is contra-indicated in the event of congenital galactosemy, of syndrome of malabsorption of glucose and galactose or of lactase deficit.
DISADVISE:
This drug is GENERALLY DISADVISES in the event of association with the amiodarone (see interactions).

Undesirable effects

IN THE CLINICAL PLAN:
- Most frequently paid:
. asthenia,
. cooling of the ends,
. bradycardia, severe if necessary,
. digestive disorders (gastralgies, nauseas, vomiting),
. impotence.
- Much more rarely:
. deceleration of conduction auriculoventriculaire or intensification of an existing block auriculoventriculaire,
. cardiac failure,
. fall tensionnelle,
. bronchospasme,
. hypoglycemia,
. syndrome of Raynaud,
. aggravation of an existing intermittent limping,
. various cutaneous demonstrations including eruptions psoriasiformes or exacerbation of a psoriasis (see precautions for use).
- Exceptionally:
pneumopathies of immuno-allergic origin.
IN THE BIOLOGICAL PLAN:
One could observe, in rare cases, the appearance of antinuclear antibodies being accompanied only exceptionally by clinical demonstrations with type of syndrome lupic and yielding to the stop treatment.
