Drug containing of the acétylcystéine used as bronchial thinner i.e. to liquefy the secretions manufactured by the lungs which are present inside the bronchi, facilitating, in theory, the evacuation by the cough of these secretions. The acétylcystéine is a drug used in the event of loose cough when the patient presents difficulties of spitting, primarily in the event of acute bronchitis.
Counter-indications
It is about a molecule (a medicamentous substance) which should not be employed when the patient presents a phénylcétonurie i.e. the presence of aspartam.
The patients presenting an ulcer of stomach or a duodenum should not take this drug.
This drug should not be used during the pregnancy breast feeding without medical opinion.
Posology
The catch of the acétylcystéine can also be done apart from the meals. When the drug is presented in the form of sachets or of compressed those must be dissolved in a half glass of water.
200 Mg three times per day are usually prescribed.
In the child from two to seven years 200 milligram twice a day are prescribed
In the one month old infant at two years, 100 Mg twice a day are prescribed
Comments
The treatment can be stopped when the patient notes an improvement of the symptoms. The treatment must never lasted more than one week.
The use of cough mixture in addition to this drug requires the opinion of a doctor or a pharmacist
In the presence of hyperthermia i.e. of fever and persistence of secretion beyond a few days, primarily when those are coloured, it is necessary to consult a doctor or a lung specialist.
The certain shapes of drugs containing acétylcystéine also contain salt, it is necessary to hold account in certain modes of it.
The exposure to smoke i.e. with passive smoking as well as cigarette smoking, by the patient himself, inhibits physiological secretion i.e. normal mucus (glaires) usually present in the lungs. This is why it is necessary to stop smoking during the catch of acétylcystéine.
The hydration of the ambient conditions that the patient breathes is necessary to support the action of the acétylcystéine in order to decrease, even avoid, the drying of pulmonary secretions.
The absorption of a great quantity of liquid is also effective to support the excretion of mucus.
In the elderly or the young child it is sometimes necessary to practice meetings of kinesitherapy after medical regulation to support the evacuation of spittles
