Indications

AT SUBJECT IMMUNODEPRIME:
- infections with virus Chicken pox Shingles (VZV),
- infection with virus Herpes Simplex (HSV).
AT SUBJECT IMMUNOCOMPETENT:
- Infections with VZV:
. shingles engraves by the extension or the evolutionarity of the lesions,
. chicken pox in the expectant mother whose eruption occurs in the 8 to 10 days before the childbirth,
. chicken pox of the newborn,
. the newborn before any eruption, when the mother began chicken pox in the 5 days preceding and the 2 days following the childbirth,
. serious forms of chicken pox in the child of less than 1 year,
. complicated chicken pox, in particular of varicelleuse pneumopathy,
- Infections with HSV:
. severe herpetic genital primary infection,
. treatment of the acute herpetic gingivostomatites, when the functional embarrassment makes the way oral impossible,
. treatment of the syndrome of Kaposi Juliusberg,
. treatment of the herpetic meningoencephalitis.
Against indications

- This drug should not be used in the event of antecedent of over-sensitiveness to aciclovir it, or with the one of the other components of the product.
- Breast feeding: in the event of serious affection requiring a maternal treatment by general way, breast feeding is to be proscribed.
Undesirable effects

- Rare benign cutaneous eruptions regressing with the stop of the treatment.
- Renal Incidents with increase in urea and creatinin blood generally occurring after too fast intravenous administration. They can be avoided by respecting posologies, the precautions for use and the speed of administration.
- Some observations of regressive central nervous system disorders (in particular ebrious feelings, confusion, hallucinations, somnolence) were announced: it acts usually the insufficient renal ones having received amounts higher than the posology recommended or patients at the risk (in particular the old subject – to see heading warning statements and precautions for use).
- Digestive disorders, increase in the rates of bilirubine or transaminases, cephalgias, asthenia. These disorders are rare and benign, they always regressed, sometimes even in spite of the continuation of the treatment.
- Rare cutaneous lesions instead of the injection, being able exceptionally to go until necroses, in the event of extravasation or of insufficient dilution of the solution (see paragraph instructions for the use, handling and elimination). These undesirable effects are related to the alkaline pH of this drug.
