Indications

PREVENTION of the infections with Virus Herpes Simplex at the immunodéprimés subjects.
AT SUBJECT IMMUNOCOMPETENT:
CUTANEOUS INFECTIONS OR MUCOUS MEMBRANES:
- Treatment of the cutaneous or mucous infections herpetic severe (they are in general primary infections), in particular of the genital herpes and the acute herpetic gingivostomatites.
Because of its mode of action, to aciclovir it eradic step latent viruses. After treatment, the patient will thus remain exposed at the same frequency of repetitions as before.
- Treatment of the recurrences of genital herpes.
- Prevention of the infections with Virus Herpes Simplex, at the subjects suffering from at least 6 recurrences per annum.
OPHTHALMOLOGIC INFECTIONS:
- Prevention of the ocular repetitions of infections with HSV:
. epithelial keratites after 3 recurrences per annum or in the event of known starting factor,
. keratites stromales and kérato-uvéites after 2 recurrences per annum.
. in the event of surgery of the eye.
- Treatment of the keratites and kérato-uvéites with HSV.

Against indications

- Antecedent of over-sensitiveness to aciclovir it, or with the one of the other components of the tablet.
- Not to give to the child before 6 years, because of the risk of false route.
- Breast feeding: in the event of serious affection requiring a maternal treatment by general way, breast feeding is to be proscribed. In the other cases to prefer if possible the recourse to a local treatment for which breast feeding is possible.

Undesirable effects

- Some benign cutaneous eruptions regressing with the stop of the treatment were described.
- The following demonstrations were sometimes reported: digestive disorders, increase in the plasmatic concentrations of the bilirubine or transaminases, discrete increase in uraemia, cephalgias, tiredness. These disorders were benign and always regressed, sometimes even in spite of the continuation of the treatment.
- At the insufficient renal one, of the central nervous system disorders were brought back requiring the stop of the treatment (see overdose: deteriorations of the conscience going of mental confusion with hallucinations until the coma).
