Indications

Labial herpes: treatment of the primary infection and the possible later recurrences.
Because of its mode of action, to aciclovir it eradic step latent viruses. After the treatment, the patient will thus remain exposed at the same frequency of repetition as before.

Against indications

Antecedents of over-sensitiveness to aciclovir it or with the other components of the cream.
The intra-oral application or intravaginale of the cream is not recommended because the latter can be irritating for the mucous membranes.

Undesirable effects

Some undesirable effects were observed during the application of the cream:
- feelings of tinglings or burns can follow the application of the cream,
- an erythema, a prurit or a cutaneous dryness,
- eczemas of contact (because of the presence of propylèneglycol). The tests of sensitivity showed that these effects are more often caused by the excipients present in the cream than by aciclovir it.
