In which case drug ACLASTA is it prescribes?
This drug belongs to the family of the biphosphonates (in the past diphosphonates). It acts by blocking the cells which destroy the bone and while fighting against demineralization; he is thus opposed to the release osseous calcium in blood. He makes it possible to reduce the risk of fracture of to the osteoporosis.

It is used to treat:
the disease of Paget,

osteoporosis occurring at the woman after the menopause, the man and the people who follow a treatment prolonged by corticoid.

Counter-indications of drug ACLASTA
This drug should not be used in the following cases:
allergy to the drugs of the family of the biphosphonates,

hypocalcemy,

pregnancy,

breast feeding.

Caution
Precautions are necessary at the people suffering from impaired renal function.

In the treatment of the disease of Paget, this drug exposes at the risk of hypocalcemy which can result in neurological and muscular demonstrations (swarmings of the hands and feet, cramps muscular, convulsions). A proportioning of blood calcium is recommended before the perfusion and of the sufficient contributions of calcium and vitamin D are necessary during at least 10 days after the perfusion.

An attack of the bones of the jaw which can involve the loss of the teeth was reported at certain people taking of the biphosphonates. A dental examination and preventive care can be necessary before beginning the treatment, in particular in the event of antecedent of anti-cancer chemotherapy, radiotherapy or corticoid catch.

Pregnancy and breast feeding

Directions for use and posology of drug ACLASTA

Usual posology:
Osteoporosis: 1 injection of 5 Mg per annum.

Disease of Paget: 1 single injection of 5 Mg.

The Councils
Regular physical exercises, adapted to the age and the physical condition, contribute to limit the evolution of the osteoporosis.

A moderate consumption of alcohol and the stop of the tobacco is also recommended, because alcohol and tobacco support the osseous loss.

Possible undesirable effects of drug ACLASTA
Pain or redness at the point of injection.

Pseudo-grippal syndrome, fever, headaches, tire, digestive disorders, pains osseous, muscular or articular. These undesirable effects generally occur in the three days following the perfusion of the drug; they can be fought by the catch of paracetamol or ibuprofene.

Disorders of the cardiac rhythm.

Seldom: increase in creatinin, embrittlement of the bones of the jaw (see Attention), conjunctivitis, uvéite.
