Allergic rhinitis: signals of alarms
If the symptoms of the allergic rhinitis are extremely traditional and well-known of all, especially of the people concerned, there exist on the other hand atypical signs which justify a more thorough exploration ORL. They can be the demonstration of other affections which should be sought.
The allergic diagnosis of rhinitis
Before prescribing any treatment, it is important to make a precise diagnosis with its doctor. Let us recall for example that the allergy to graminaceous is sometimes difficult to differentiate from an allergy to the acarina. Indeed, in the south, the allergenic peaks occur at the same time, spring. Allergenic assessment, tests multiallergenic then cutaneous tests make it possible to identify the responsible allergen then to implement measurements of ousting. The presence of an asthma is also required (whistles, breathlessness, crises….) It is essential to measure the breath, at least with an expiratory flow of point, asthma associated with the rhinitis can be insidious.
Traditional or atypical symptoms
The symptoms of the ballergic rhinitis are well-known: whimpering, conjunctivitis, nose which runs, stopped nose, sneezes, itchings, etc
On the other hand, sometimes also symptoms known as atypical appear. Those must draw the attention and give place to additional investigations ORL which concern the specialist. Why? Because these signs can hide a nasal polypose for example or reveal a cancer nasopharyngien. Not to pass beside these serious affections, seven atypical symptoms must give alarm.
7 signals of alarm
Pains.
Bleedings.
Unilaterality of the symptoms.
Purulent flow.
Loss of sense of smell.
Failure of well led treatments.
Repeat of the symptoms.
