If you suffer from serious allergies, perhaps you have, in.liaison.with your allergist, planned to have recourse to a therapeutic method like the specific immunothérapie, in other words with injections of extracts of the substances to which you are allergic. But are these injections worth the sorrow of it? For some, the answer is affirmative.

Just like vaccination, the immunothérapie enables you to acquire a certain “resistance” or immunity with the substances to which you are allergic. Thus, your body will not react exaggeratedly when you are exposed to these starting factors, or allergens, and the symptoms will not interfere as much any more with your daily activities.

This therapy can however require patience of your share. The specific immunothérapie does not consist of only one injection, but rather of a series of punctures. Indeed, the doctor or allergist starts by injecting low dose of the allergen, then the amount increases some each week, according to your personal sensitivity. This process can last four to six months, on the basis of weekly injection, in order to reach the amount necessary to the immunization, called amount of maintenance. This amount is managed initially with intervals of one or two weeks, and then all the three to four weeks during three to five years, even more.

The good news? It is that once the allergic person followed all this protocol, it becomes generally less sensitive, and can thus reduce, even stop its consumption of drugs intended to relieve the symptoms. It can thus be occupied more easily with its daily activities. According to the specialists, the immunothérapie would be particularly useful for the asthmatic people, because their crises are often started by allergens.
