Angina and badly of throat
The evil of throat is a vast hold-all
Actually, the evil of throat is a symptom, i.e. a sign of call of a disease which, associated with other signs, makes it possible to make a diagnosis and to look after the disease as far as possible.
Evil of throat
An evil of throat can have multiple causes: the first which makes us consult is the angina (chapter developed further) or the rhinopharyngitis. The other causes are irritations due to pollution, the tobacco, alcohol, a mechanical irritation like too strong speech, too a long time, to scrape the throat, an allergy, the presence of a benign or malignant tumor…
Vis-a-vis an evil of throat persisting, it is advised to consult your doctor, it will examine your throat and will do what is necessary to relieve you.
Angina
The angina is a microbial of throat, viral or bacterial infection.
It involves a more or less important pain, spontaneous and exacerbated by swallowing; this pain is associated with fever, a general tiredness, the nose which more or less runs, of the aches, of the headaches… The throat red, is more or less inflated, of the white points can be present; ganglia can appear.
Better is worth to consult
It is necessary to go to see your doctor; he must determine the nature of the angina.
If the angina is viral (the throat is red, the nose runs, the patient coughs, it has aches), which is generally the case, no particular treatment is prescribed apart from analgesics, antipyretic, even anti-inflammatory drugs, collutoire disinfectant-anesthetic, to decrease the pain locally.
On the other hand, if the angina is of bacterial origin (where the most frequent but nonspecific signs are the evil of throat, the fever, the presence of white points as well as ganglia,…), it is necessary to take an antibiotic treatment during several days because the serious risks of complications exist if the responsible bacterium is streptocoque the ß haemolytic.
Streptocoque the ß haemolytic secretes toxins which can pass in blood and cause remote grave diseases of the throat: eruptions cutaneous (scarlet fever) an attack of the heart (acute rheumatoid arthritis), central nervous system disorders, an attack of the kidneys (acute glomerulonephritis).
This bacterium can also give abscesses locally.
Today, these complications are rare in the developed countries because the anginas are effectively treated.
The fast diagnostic test
The doctors have a weapon of shock today: a test for the streptocoque bacterium ß haemolytic, with immediate result. If the test is positive, of antibiotics adapted to the microbe will be prescribed. If the test is negative, the patient will have a lighter ordinance with a symptomatic treatment of comfort.
Infectious mononucleosis (MNI)
It is the “disease of in love” or the “disease with the kiss”. Indeed, it is contagious and is transmitted by saliva. It appears readily in the young teenagers and adults.
The patient presents an angina, fever, adenopathies, even a large spleen.
The recommended treatment will be the regulation of antipyretic (against the fever) and the rest.
Asthenia, i.e. tiredness, can persist several weeks.
An examination of blood, the MNI test, is sometimes required remotely this angina, in front of a persistent asthenia; this test will make it possible to confirm the diagnosis of MNI a posteriori.
To retain
If you or your entourage have a sore throat and/or an angina and fever, one should not pass beside an angina to streptocoque. See your doctor.
The weather will be during the diagnosis immediately and will prescribe you after having made the fast screening test, the treatment which will look after you effectively, he will make you take antibiotics only if it is necessary.
