Coloring of the hair: more and more of allergies
The allergies to the capillary dyes are due to an ingredient which is to date impossible to circumvent: the paraphénylènediamine. These allergic reactions are currently in very strong progression. Nothing astonishing, we are increasingly numerous to color us the hair! Nearly a million French are potentially concerned with this intolerance…
The allergy to the dyeings strongly increased
This rise does not have anything astonishing because since ten years, the number of capillary users of dyeings flew away out of arrow. This fashion to want to color its hair touches all the age brackets, even the young people resort to it very regularly. In Japan, countries for which one has particularly illustrative figures, 41% of the high-school girls color the hair very regularly, but it is also the case of 85% of the women from 20 to 30 years and 33% of the men from 20 to 30 years! In 1992, they were respectively only 13%,6% and 2%.
Other evolutions as regards capillary practices of dyeings: the deadline between two colorings was reduced considerably and finally, the choice of the color very strongly varies once with another, which amounts saying that one does not allot any more one color in a final way but that one changes some very quickly.
The problem of the allergies
All would go for best if the products of coloring did not contain a paraphénylènediamine, well-known substance to cause allergic reactions. However in spite of research in this field to develop other molecules of replacement, stripped of allergic risk, this ingredient remains essential in the composition of the capillary dyeings.
This one is the only currently available one which makes it possible to obtain a uniform color not being eliminated with the shampoo. It is to say its central role in the list of the ingredients of a coloring product…
More than one million French would be concerned!
Recently, the processing centers of the allergies bring back an increase in the number of cases of allergies related to the paraphénylènediamine. According to the extrapolations quoted in example in a recent international publication, Thailand would count more than one million people concerned with cutaneous intolerance with the paraphénylènediamine, France approximately a million and Germany 1,3 million.
Which are the symptoms?
When the reaction is severe, there is not to raise question, an emergency treatment is essential, sometimes even a hospitalization: cutaneous reaction being accompanied by a mucous edema. But in the less extreme cases, the traditional characteristics are those of the immediate appearance of an eczema on the face and the scalp, particularly accentuated on the level of the border between the hair and the face.
Such a reaction requires a consultation. The diagnostic test passes by the installation of patches cutaneous containing low dose of paraphénylènediamine.
