Do you risk an allergy to the sun?

The allergy to the sun, indicated by the medical term of lucite estival is an increasingly widespread affection. Each summer, some 10% of the French would be victims, mainly women. Which are the first signs of the estival lucite? How to prevent this solar allergy?

How does an allergy to the sun appear?

The estival lucite appears more particularly among women (9 women for 1 man) between 15 and 35 years. An episode of allergy can occur as of the first intense and prolonged solar exposure, or after several exposures. Thus classically, as of 2nd or 3rd day of holidays, of the small buttons appear, accompanied by itchings on the low neckline. These buttons tend then to extend to the shoulders, the front armlevers, with the arms, even with the legs.
The eruption lasts 5 to 6 days, the buttons disappear then spontaneously, on the condition of remaining in the shade this time!

Allergy to the sun: risk repetitions

The problem with the estival lucite is that after a first episode, there exists a risk of repetitions at each vacancy. In addition, to each eruption, the allergy tends to worsen: the zones of eruption widen, just like the duration of the eruptions. In fact, with the time and the number of exposures, the sensitivity to the sun increases. So much so that sometimes, an estival lucite can even be started at the time of a simple sunny weekend of May for example.

Why the frequency of the estival lucites is in rise?

Mode of bronzing, which makes that one exposes oneself more and more often and intensely to the sun, explains why this affection is in strong progression. Then, the sun lotions can intervene for two reasons:
1) The solar application of shield encourages certain people to be exposed longer.
2) Many solar protections filter only the UVB, ultraviolet rays responsible for the sunstrokes. However the estival lucite is caused by the UVA. To protect itself some, it is thus imperative to resort to solar protections which filter at the same time the UVA and the UVB.

How to prevent the allergy to the sun?

To apply an anti-UVA and anti-UVB solar protection, in liberal amount.
To regularly renew the applications and systematically after each bathe.
To expose themselves little and avoid the hottest hours: between 12 and 16 hours.
To expose itself very gradually during 20 to 30 minutes first days to the least hot hours of the day.
Once the declared estival lucite, more to expose themselves, but remain in the shade.
To follow the therapeutic and preventive treatment prescribes by the doctor.
