Emergency contraception, it is what is called the pill of the following day.

In the event of sexual relation not protected, or in case “of accident of condom”, i.e. a condom torn by inadvertency or defective, there exists the pill of the following day. This pill can be taken in the 2 to 3 days which follow the sexual relation at the risk.

It can also be prescribed in the event of lapses of memory of pill during of more than 12 hours with not protected sexual relations.

It is a pill which is distributed by the pharmacists without ordinance. It is given to minor in an anonymous way after a maintenance which makes it possible to recognize that the indication of this pill of the following day is relevant (the pharmacists are made refund directly by the social security).

During the school year, the school nurse can also distribute it if a pupil asks it.

It is absolutely necessary to supervise the arrival of the rules. Indeed, the drug can not be effective. If the rules do not arrive at the appropriate time, it is necessary to make a test of pregnancy ou/et consult a doctor.

It is not a means of contraception to use regularly. At the time of this kind of accident, it is often the moment to take stock with the school nurse or the doctor on the means of contraception which would be appropriate best according to the age, the sexual life.

Receipts of grandmother (vaginal shower, herb teas of plants,…) never proved their effectiveness, and can be dangeureuses.
