Ingredients allergens in tattooings and the cosmetics

Alarms were already launched with respect to the tattooings with henné of color black, because they can contain a substance at the origin of allergic reactions: the paraphenylene diamine (PD). This substance allergen is also found in certain cosmetic products, and is not the only likely one to cause allergies of contact.

Illegal allergens in the cosmetics

The cases of allergies of contact to the paraphenylene diamine (PD) continue to increase. This molecule is used illegally to give the black color to certain tattooings to henné. But PD is still used in all illegality in some products of make-up, like some ricils or eyebrow pencils and in certain capillary colorings. These dyeings can be responsible for eczema of the eyelids and severe conjunctivitis.
To return from there to tattooings, certain descriptions mentioned the presence of heavy metals (nickel, cobalt) in the preparations for tattooing. Sometimes also, henné itself was identified like starting allergy of contact.

Concerning nickel, which belongs to heavy metals, and which for this reason accumulates definitively in the organization without this one never managing to eliminate it, of the cases of eczema of contact to nickel were announced in intensive users of the cellphone (on the level of the cheek, near the ear and on the house).

The corn hydrolysats are also responsible for allergies of contact

The corn hydrolysats (proteinic fragments obtained by hydrolysis) are used more and more as source of proteins. Today, they often replace proteins of animal origin in the cosmetics and the food. However they are responsible for reactions of immediate over-sensitiveness and eczema of contact.
One finds them under the international denomination: Hydrolyzed wheat protein, in products of make-up for the eyes, of nail varnish, the sprays for hair or of the gel showers.

In practice

In the event of reaction, it is necessary to consult its doctor, which will be able to direct towards a dermatologist or an allergist in order to determine the origin of the allergy. The tests carried out with the products of the patient being very useful, it is recommended to preserve all the suspect products. The ousting will be control to once follow the identified allergen. It will then be necessary to seek alternatives in collaboration with its doctor.
