Stop of the tobacco /Stop smoking, they are contagious!

Did you know? To be nonsmoker, that is caught! If somebody stops smoking in your personal or professional entourage, your own chances to crush your last cigarette strongly increase.
From now on, one stops smoking in group!
The cigarette does not have any more the dimension: in about thirty years, the nicotinism of the elderly from 40 to 50 years very strongly decreased, passing from 66% in 1971 to 22% in 2003 (according to the Framingham study). The circumstances of the stop changed also well. Formerly, one only stopped, by putting at the variation his friends smokers and especially not at the same time as his spouse by fear of creating marital problems because of the sudden changes of mood, of the irritability of the candidate to weaning. Today, it is not any more the case as the results of a study show it having carried on the troop called Framingham (12.000 Americans followed during more than 30 years). Conversely, the smokers stop in group, justify themselves and involve themselves in couple, between friends, between colleagues, as if nicotinic weaning were from now on an act contagious and developing.

The closer it is, the more that helps
A woman who stops smoking decreases by 67% the risk that her husband continues to smoke. If it is a brother or a sister who stops smoking, the risk to continue to smoke decreases by 25%. If it is a friend, the risk decreases by 36%. And finally if it is about a colleague in a small company, the risk decreases by 34%.
Except within a couple, the influence of the friends is very strong. It is also noted that it is all the more important as the level of education is high. On the other hand, it is not observed among the neighbors.

Thus today, the smokers stop together, highlighting a considerable influence of the close relations as regards nicotinism.
This observation suggests that the tobacco is not any more one social vector. It is conversely the stop of the nicotinism which became sociabilisant, at least in the adults having exceeded forty.

Nicotinic weaning: 10 councils to help a friend
The French National institute of prevention and education to health (Inpes) already integrated concepts of solidarity in its councils aiming at encouraging with the stop:
1. To speak with its close relations, its colleagues.
2. To find the witty remarks, the good gestures.
3. To be available.
4. To be with the listening of their fears.
5. To take news regularly.
6. To give economic arguments.
7. To list the benefit for health.
8. To develop their efforts.
9. To appreciate the good performances.
10. To diffuse the management sciences of the stress
