Stress
The stress I stress, you stress… everyone stresses and fortunately! It is a phenomenon essential to the adaptation of our organization to external pressures. The problem is the excess of stress, and our lifestyle contributes to it and can involve a whole series of sometimes serious nuisances.

A system of reaction
The stress corresponds to a programmed reaction of the organization. Whatever the responsible stimulus, our body reacts in a more or less identical way: the cardiac rhythm accelerates, of sweats appear… If the fear or the emotion is more intense, of more marked physical reactions can occur like nauseas, vomiting… jusquà an involuntary loss of the urines.

One could distinguish three stages in the stress:

> The phase of resistance, at the time the organization “is adapted to the aggression”. The reflexes are fast, the capacities physical and intellectual are optimal. Other physiological phenomena intervene to make it possible the body to hold.
> The phase of exhaustion when the stress persists. The body cannot then any more assume this mobilization of resources. It is at this stage that the pathological effects of the stress are likely to occur.
Consequences of the stress
The reaction to the stress is controlled by the nervous system, and also by the hormones and the glands which secrete them. The hypothalamus, small gland at the base of the brain, and the suprarenals, above the kidneys, are the main actors. They secrete various hormones which act on a great number of bodies. This is why the harmful effects of the stress are multiple. They include, initially, all the “small disorders” which make us say that one is not well, badly in his skin: tiredness, sleep disorders, the nervousness and even of the disturbances of the libido. When the stress continues, it can involve more important repercussions.
> Digestive disorders: distension, diarrhea, evils of belly… the intestines often suffer. Before speaking about the consequences of the stress, it should initially be made sure that there are not other causes.
> The heart either does not like the stress to him. This last is even regarded as a factor which can intervene in the infarctions and arterial hypertension. Palpitations, for example, can be sometimes caused by the stress.

> The skin carries also the marks of the stress: several diseases are more or less started or accentuated by the stress. It is the case of the seborrheic dermite, the psoriasis or eczema.

To manage and decompress
Difficult to fight an invisible adversary! If one feels stressed, distressed, it is initially necessary to try to determine the origin of it. It is often in the professional framework or family that the problem is. A difficult owner, children who sleep less than usually or a change of practices can be enough. The identified problem it should either be avoided, it is not always easy, or to learn how to put up with it. Each one can develop attitudes which will help it with better withstanding this pressure. It can be useful, for example, to spare beaches of calm in the course of the day or to take care to have a rhythm of life more slackened with programmed leisures.

There really does not exist of drugs indicated for the stress. If you have too important symptoms, it is necessary to speak about it with your doctor who will be able to prescribe a specific remedy if necessary.
If the stress is transformed into anxiety, in anguishes, of the specific drugs can be indicated. But the best solution is a cognitive and behavioral therapy.
The post-traumatic syndrome of stress
