The acne would prevent the cancer of the skin
When the buttons occur at the time of the first meetings in love, the acne is a true nightmare. But if this skin disease affects your moral, it could have the advantage of protecting you from cancer from the skin.

The bacteria of the Propionibacterium kind play a big role in the release of the cutaneous lesions. When the pilosebaceous follicules are blocked by an excess of sebum, these micro-organisms proliferate then die. The intracellular and membrane bacterial remains cannot any more be eliminated on the surface of the skin. Vis-a-vis this “clogging” of the follicule, one notes an inflammatory and immunizing reaction important and the appearance of blisters and pustules suitable for the acne.

Sebum for the moral one…
Nevertheless, this stimulation of immunity (in particular of the lymphocytes T) could have beneficial effects on the long course. It is at least what researchers of Université of Leeds (Great Britain) suggest. The acneic bacterium, Propionibacterium acnes, could exert a protective role with respect to the infections and of cancers of the peau*.

This infectious agent could stimulate immunizing defenses and more particularly the white globules which take part in the first line of defense of the organization. Moreover, it would facilitate the recruitment of lymphocytes T of the type TH1, actors dominating against the infections and the tumors. According to the authors, this phenomenon could explain why the old acnéiques ones seem to less often develop cutaneous cancers (carcinome basocellulaire, melanomist) that other individuals.

A little acne against cancer?
Certain experimental work consolidates this assumption. Thus, of the animal studies identified, following an infection with Propionibacterium acnes, an immunizing response implying lymphocytes TH1 against various varieties of tumors and infections with virus. Attempts at treatment would have even led to favorable results against cancers of the bladder.

As the two British indicate it, we could daily take a little Propionibacterium to protect us from cancer. While waiting, Doctor Anne Ready and Richard Bojar currently work with the improvement of a screening test for children still at the elementary school. Those which are likely to develop the disease later could be thus seen proposing a local preventive measure treatment.

Right now, a test used at the University of Leeds, Sebutape, seems interesting to this end. The application on the skin of a band absorbing the lipids indeed makes it possible to estimate the type of production of sebum, and to a certain extent to locate the futures acneic:

If the formation of sebum is homogeneous on the tape, the risk can be regarded as weak;
Contrary, if one observes points of strong production of sebum, corresponding to certain pilosebaceous follicules, the child is likely to be victim of acne later on.
Angel or demon, the acne did not finish any captivating the researchers. By typing “acne” in Pubmed, the largest library in line of scientific publications, one finds thus more than 7.000 articles… Research goes good progress, but the banked-up beds are not removed from the acne for as much.
