Cold
The cold is called also rhinopharyngitis or coryza

A cold is a viral infection concerning sphere ORL (nose, throat, ears) and the bronchi.
Many viruses can give a cold.
It is a very frequent and benign disease which cures in a few days without after-effect, contrary with the influenza which can leave the person reached tired during several days.

A very contagious disease

It is an extremely contagious disease. The virus is transported in the droplets of saliva which are suspended in the air, it contaminates the others by this way. The sneezes and cough facilitate even more the viral dissemination. In the same way, the viruses of the cold can be transported by the hands.

The contagion is extreme in the places of promiscuity: in public transport, in the companies, the cribs and the schools, at the house…

The children are particularly sensitive to the colds and often have the encumbered nose; it is necessary to pass some by there so that, little by little, their organization learn how to defend itself: their immune system will manufacture the antibodies necessary to fight against the various circulating viruses then the colds will be spaced.

In the adult, it happens that the immune system is not always powerful; the stress, the nights without sleep,… can involve a fall of immunizing defenses and the colds can be sometimes connected.

Air-conditioning

Air-conditioned spaces drain the mucous membranes ORL, which then become fragile and more sensitive to the viruses which trail in the air.

When one is caught cold one fly

The viruses which give colds touch the mucous membranes nasal, laryngées, pharyngées and bronchial, which involves the appearance of typical signs of the cold such as the stopped nose and which runs, the eyes which cry, the person sneezes and coughs, it more or less has a sore throat, the way enrouée and sometimes of the fever and the shivers; she can present a pseudo-grippal syndrome with aches and a headache which can make think of an influenza.

Complications can delay the cure

Sometimes, sinusitis can to develop (only at adults and children of more than 8 years) because the meatuses (holes) which put the sines in contact with the nose are congested and are stopped, then sines surinfectent themselves. Bronchitis can also appear with a cough and a fever persisting beyond the cold.

At the small ones, a cold can evolve to an otitis because the horns of Eustaches (which put the nose and the ears in communication) are stopped.

No treatment for the cold

The doctor can prescribe drugs of comfort i.e. a analgesics – antipyretic which will decrease a possible headache and the fever, one relieving congestion nasal which will emerge the nose, a collutoire to decrease the evil of throat.

It is necessary to learn to the children with moucher.

For the all small ones, it is necessary to regularly release the nose with physiological salt solution to them and a fly baby.

If a bacterium is responsible for a superinfection, then the doctor will prescribe antibiotics which will treat the bacterial infection.

The vitamin C can also reinforce the immune system. A council: regularly eat fruits and vegetables (kiwis, oranges, grapefruits, lemons,…), they contain vitamin C and will reinforce your immune system naturally.

To retain

The cold is a frequent and benign disease, very contagious. The children having a still immature immune system will be often reached by it.

When one is caught cold, it is necessary to take its evil as a patient and… handkerchiefs.

So that the immune system plays its part of defender of the organization, it needs a regular contribution of vitamin C.
