Two strange drugs against the cancer of the prostate

The experiment was still undertaken only in the mouse but the results are very promising. The association of a drug against the diabetes and a drug against the epilepsy appeared effective in the treatment of the cancer of the prostate. These two drugs being already on the market, such a treatment against the cancer of the prostate could quickly be available.

The trio cancer of the prostate, diabetes and epilepsy

A research team of Inserm in France worked on specific molecules called PPARgamma receivers able to act on genes implied in the formation of greasy fabrics. This work was undertaken within the framework of the two associated diseases which are the diabetes and obesity.
However of other tests showed that these same receivers were surexprimés in the event of cancer of the prostate. Thus, the anti-diabetics could have an interesting influence on the cancer cells implied in the cancer of the prostate.

An association which stops the progression of the cancer of the prostate

The first studies undertaken starting from cellular cultures of mouse not having given really convincing results, the researchers turned to other molecules currently used in the treatment of the epilepsy this time and using a a little different mechanism.
It is by associating these two drugs that the proliferation of the cancer cells could be stopped. This association of anti-diabetic and anti-epileptic is effective to block the progression of the located tumors, but also to prevent the invasion of the tumor in the case of cancer with metastases, i.e. already disseminated.

The effectiveness of this strange and unexpected couple must be confirmed at the man and the realization of clinical trials is right now being studied.

More this discovery is that the two accused molecules already exist, they are currently used in the treatment of the diabetes and the epilepsy. What means that, in this precise case, the development of a treatment against the cancer of the prostate should be faster and less constraining. Indeed, of many data and clinical trials being already available, certain stages of the process could be accelerated.
